A delightful and festive cake perfect for Halloween gatherings, featuring layers of buttercream frosting and chocolate ganache.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttercream frosting
  • 1 cup chocolate ganache
  • Macarons (for decoration)
  • Sprinkles (optional, for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3–5 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla: Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract until combined.
  4. Mix the dry ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk until smooth.
  5. Prepare the pans: Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans, smoothing the tops with a spatula.
  6. Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Cool the cakes: Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  8. Frost the cake: Once cooled, spread buttercream frosting between layers, then frost the top and sides.
  9. Add ganache: Drizzle chocolate ganache over the frosted cake.
  10. Decorate: Top with macarons and sprinkles if desired.

Notes

Use softened butter for better mixing; can substitute cream cheese frosting for a tangy twist.
