A classic, comforting dish of seasoned ground beef topped with creamy mashed potatoes and melted cheese, perfect for families and gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 cups mashed potatoes (prepared)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1/2 cup beef broth (optional, for added moisture)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl. Mix until well combined.
  3. Shape the meat mixture into a loaf in a greased baking dish, making a slight indent on top.
  4. Bake for 45-60 minutes or until the meatloaf reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).
  5. Prepare the mashed potatoes while the meatloaf bakes, making them creamy with butter, milk, and seasoning.
  6. Top the baked meatloaf with the prepared mashed potatoes.
  7. Add shredded cheese over the mashed potatoes.
  8. Return to the oven for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

Don’t overmix the ingredients to keep the meatloaf tender, and remember to let it rest before slicing.
