Homemade soup dumplings are delightful parcels filled with savory jelly that transforms into a broth during cooking, offering a unique and rewarding cooking experience.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup water
  • ½ cup chicken-flavored jelly (or similar jelly)
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • Chili oil, to drizzle
  • 2 green onions, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough by combining flour and water in a mixing bowl, mix until smooth, and knead for about 5 minutes. Cover and let rest for 30 minutes.
  2. Melt the jelly in a small saucepan over low heat until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. Roll out the rested dough into small balls and thin circles, about 3 inches in diameter.
  4. Fill each dough circle with about a teaspoon of melted jelly.
  5. Shape the dumplings by pinching the edges together to seal.
  6. Steam the dumplings in a lightly greased steamer for about 8-10 minutes until cooked through.
  7. Serve warm with chili oil and dipping sauce, garnished with green onions.

Notes

Ensure to knead the dough well for the right consistency. Fresh herbs or different flavored jellies can be used for variations.
