A delightful dish that brings the flavors of your favorite takeout right to your kitchen with tender, crispy chicken coated in a sweet and savory sesame sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • Cooked rice, for serving
  • Chopped green onions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Coat the chicken: Toss the chicken pieces in cornstarch until they are evenly coated.
  2. Heat the oil: In a large pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  3. Fry the chicken: Fry the coated chicken in batches for about 4-5 minutes until golden and crispy. Remove and set aside.
  4. Prepare the sauce: In the same pan, drain excess oil, leaving about one tablespoon. Add the soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Combine chicken and sauce: Return the fried chicken to the pan and toss it in the sauce.
  6. Add garnish: Sprinkle sesame seeds over the chicken.
  7. Serve: Serve the crispy sesame chicken over cooked rice, garnished with chopped green onions.

Notes

Watch your heat to ensure the oil is hot enough before frying. Avoid overcrowding the pan and drain the oil after frying for optimal crispiness.
